How might the climate change on Maui and Hawai‘i?

Global climate change projections must be “downscaled” to provide enough detail to assist local resource management decisions. This island-specific climate model aids resource managers on the islands of Hawai‘i and Maui to understand imminent local climate changes at a fine scale. The outputs provide spatially explicit projections of temperature, rainfall, and wind patterns over the two islands at a scale that is ecologically relevant to management of natural and cultural resources.
